Dear Members,
On behalf of the Board of Trustees and Executive Committee of the British Kashmiri Medical Association (BKMA), thank you for your continued trust and support over the past year.
We successfully hosted our 3rd conference, Medical Ethics and Patient Safety, in April 2025, and held our Annual AGM and fundraising event in October. Your participation and generosity helped support specialist paediatric cardiac care and dialysis services for patients in Jammu & Kashmir.
We are proud to celebrate Professor Noor ul Owase Jeelani’s MBE for services to paediatric neurosurgery and global child health, and Dr Shaheen Shora’s recognition as Mental Health Professional of the Year 2025.
BKMA continues to grow, and in the year ahead we will strengthen collaboration with colleagues in Jammu & Kashmir, enhance training initiatives, improve governance, and develop our website. We also look forward to welcoming our first cohort of nursing colleagues from SKIMS to Birmingham for palliative care training in Spring 2026.

“BKMA is proud to collaborate with the Hope and health Foundation in Kashmir to support the development of a new children’s cardiac hospital. Through our partnership, we have been actively involved in fundraising efforts, focusing on the building of the hospital.
We held a successful fundraising event in UK, and thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we have transferred most of the funds to the foundation. Together, we are working towards a brighter future for children in Kashmir who need specialized cardiac care.”
